Thieves target academic offices in string of textbooks thefts

July 27, 2017

WHITEWATER, Wis. – Thieves appear to be targeting offices in academic buildings in a string of textbooks thefts on multiple UW System campuses, according to an email from University of Wisconsin-Whitewater officials.
Several people have stolen more than $10,000 worth of textbooks from multiple campuses, the email said.
Two people have reportedly been working together, and officials believe the individuals were on the UW-Whitewater campus on June 7 between 4:35 p.m. and 9:53 p.m.
According to the release, it is unclear if any items were taken at that time or if they have been back on campus.
Officials ask anyone on campus to report any missing items or if they see anything unusual on campus.
